Entering On/Off Cardiopulmonary Bypass

Post by DivnaC » Mon Mar 04, 2019 1:21 pm

Hi,

I have collected antimicrobial levels during cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass. I would like to model this data to estimate clearance and volume of distribution, but I am unsure how to correctly enter the start and end time of CPB so that it would be accounted for in the program.

If anyone has any experience with this or a similar situation, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks kindly,

Divna

Enter a covariate into your data for 0=off and 1=on. If you have a change in status at a time other than a dose, enter a dose event with dose=0 and change the covariate value, since covariates are only applied at times of doses. Then in your model file, do something with the covariate, like CL=CL*CBP, so that CL stops when off CPB, just as a rough example.

Thank you for your reply. I have entered the data as you suggested and we will try running it soon
